The honor falls most closely to us, the battle veterans, but the USS Hue City honors every Vietnam Veteran. Jim Webb told me that he caught a bit of flack from some unnamed veteran groups. They said you can't name a cruiser for a place. Basically he could, but it wasn't a place it was a battle, and the name of the operation, Operation Hue City. Thank you, Jim Webb. Reply

You got that right David, enjoyed meeting you and all the other people evolved with this event. Though I didn't fight in that battle, I fought the ones prior to Hue that were just as horrific, ones like Swift, and the Unions which Was my last; battles learned from, that I hoped helped those of 1/5 who followed us in our footsteps fight the battle of Hue. God willing, I'll see you before or for sure there next year. Reply

My pleasure was meeting you and all who I came into contact with. Tell you the truth....Didn't talk or hear a lot on Hue. I didn't come thinking that this gathering would be of one battle. It was all that this Marine could have hoped for. Ripp. Reply
